THE BEGINNING
Institute of Meetings and Non-Meetings is a platform for testing and exploring the ability and inability of art to intervene in the functioning of society.
Institute of Meetings and Non-Meetings is a studio and laboratory, a research station and testing ground, a rehearsal hall and editorial office for investigative journalism. It is an expedition to the nether regions of the lunar sphere as well as a dive into the core of quotidian existence.
Institute of Meetings and Non-Meetings is a NGO of two artists, Jan Teevet and Oliver Issak, set up to pursue their joint creative ideals and to apply for grants from institutions that have funding and a mission to support creative activities.
But at the same time, the Institute of Meetings and Non-Meetings is also a common space for the individual practices of different artists—a space in which new realities open up by supporting, inspiring, and challenging each other. The fusion of diverse languages, techniques and methodologies, materials and practices incites the generation of possibilities that remain indiscernible within the present moment.
Institute of Meetings and Non-Meetings is an organism that expands by sharing and receiving, a network that grows through the exchange of knowledge and experience.
At the heart of the Institute of Meetings and Non-Meetings is the creation not of physical or digital spaces, but of potential environments.
